Job Purpose

The incumbent in this role is expected to perform specific tasks which will contribute to but not limited to specific activities/ projects managed by Technical services department. S/he will support tasks and activities across the team and shall work under direct supervision of a senior team member. Also, responsible to replicate activities with high degree of consistency, communicate across the team, occasionally support activities under programme/ project cycle (capacity review, gap identification, assessment, analysis, design, planning, implementation, monitoring & evaluation). As a part of Technical Team collectively work towards designing solution to ensure clean water, safe sanitation, and good hygiene for all; therefore the position will be given an adventurous challenge to increase digital footprint along with undertaking various communication and advocacy activities, while learning-by-doing through training during the work.

Key Responsibilities

• Actively assist in successful completion of project related activities assigned by Head of department/ Line manager aligning to organisational priority • Regularly visit programme/project intervention areas as necessary to provide necessary support for designing and piloting innovative technical interventions • Assist in technical research and assessments like situation analysis for safely managed water/sanitation services, hydro geological feasibility studies, detailed technical and environmental impact, and sustainability study • Play prominent role in developing context specific designs, drawings, estimates of climate-resilient inclusive WASH infrastructure • Support periodic revision of design manual for interventions to ensure safe water, decent toilet, and good hygiene • Provide necessary support to ensure develop, practice, and rolling out of relevant organisational and national policies in different programmes/projects • Conceptualisation of green technologies in environment friendly safe sanitation and safe water provisions pondering the water security • Provide required support to assess performance of different pilot initiatives and different research/action-research • Actively support in organising events such as trainings, workshops, conferences, and dissemination events as required • Assist in the development of training module and communication materials for community, institutions, partners, sector professionals • Support in documentation, reporting and presentation in accordance with requirement of the department/organisation

Requisite qualifications, experience, and attributes

Education: An undergraduate degree in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), preferably in Civil/Environmental Engineering degree from any recognised and reputed University of Bangladesh or abroad. Experience: Minimum one-year professional working experience in water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), integrated water resource management, environmental engineering and/or relevant fields Skills and Competencies: • Understanding of the issues relating to water, sanitation and hygiene in national and global context is essential • Excellent computer skill, and hands on experience of computer aided design platforms and analytical software like CAD, GIS etc. • Strong analytical skills, and capacity to work independently and meet tight deadlines • Admirable leadership, interpersonal, facilitation, and presentation skills • Written and verbal communication skills both in Bangla and English

Salary & Benefits

Monthly gross salary BDT 43,583/-. In addition, festival bonus, provident fund, gratuity, life insurance for self, health insurance for self, spouse and children, cell phone allowances etc. are applicable as per policy provision.

Travel

Travel on a regular basis to remote areas of Bangladesh and overseas is required. 20% to 40% time should be dedicated to travels.
