Job Purpose

The Climate Resilience Programme of WaterAid Bangladesh aims to improve access to water and sanitation services with promotion of safe hygiene practices among the targeted underprivileged people living in different climate vulnerable areas in Bangladesh. Under the interventions, WaterAid also works with Readymade Garments Industries, Schools, Healthcare centers etc. in the respective project areas to improve their WASH services including influencing respective local government institute (LGIs), Industry owner, youth, utility agencies, relevant actors, civil society organisation, and stakeholders as appropriate. The Project Coordinator will facilitate achieving desired output and impact with assigned responsibilities under the portfolio of Climate Resilience Programme. The position will play an instrumental role being one of the key members to deliver results in collaboration with a high performing team.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the design and delivery of WaterAid Bangladesh's climate and disaster-related projects/programming at the urban and rural by working directly with partner organisations. • Explore ways to mainstream CCA, DRR, national policies / strategies / activities on WASH and climate, climate advocacy at local level and innovative system delivery approaches in programme activities. • Produce training materials, guideline, documents and contents to mainstream all the climate resilience programme-implemented activities following appropriate and effective modalities, for multiple stakeholders. • Build capacity of partner NGOs in the areas of climate resilient programme management with a focus on WASH, capacity building and community mobilisation initiatives. • Ensure effective engagement of local government and factory owners with a view to improving WASH governance. • Supervise team of professionals from different disciplines for effective implementation of projects in climate vulnerable areas. • Coordinate and collaborate with different donors and relevant stakeholders. • Add on the Climate Resilience (CR) programme’s initiatives of capacitating health, education and livelihood sectors by introducing climate change-resilient WASH practices • Establish strong community organisation, coordination and partnership with other sector actors including the local government institutions to establish an accountable system and organised modality of tasks • Facilitate the activities of partner NGOs to ensure effective implementation of the programme and monitor the progress of projects accordingly • Improve the capacity of partner NGOs in the areas of programme management and implementation of hygiene activities by mainstreaming as well as improving WaterAid's existing practices • Ensure timely reporting and grants compliance along with organisational policies and procedures • Frequently visit field in order to monitor, and support field level interventions. • Represent the programme/ organisation in relevant platforms • Will act as the ‘Safeguarding Focal Point (SFP)’ for respective programme/projects, partners and communities following relevant guidelines and directives.

Requisite qualifications, experience, and attributes

Education: Master’s degree preferably in B.Sc in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Social Sciences, Development Studies or relevant subject, for excellent academic attainment and or professional track record, this condition may be relaxed. Experience: Minimum 05 years of demonstrated work experience in project and partnership management is mandatory, with a desired minimum of 07 years in relevant fields such as WASH, Climate Change, and RMG sector. Skills and Competencies: - Experience in donor and stakeholder management. - Proficient in using digital platforms for online monitoring and reporting systems. - Demonstrated experience in people’s management for at least 4 years. - Must be a team player. - Prepared for extensive field visits, including areas like Gazipur, Savar, Satkhira, Khulna, Bagerhat & Rajshahi, with potential expansion. - Possesses personal integrity, transparency, fairness, proactive stance, and respect for gender, diversity, safeguarding, and organizational cultural aspects. - Self-driven and able to work independently/with minimal supervision. - Capable of planning, prioritizing, and organizing assignments amidst multiple competing tasks and urgent deadlines. - Able to work under pressure and consistently meet deadlines. - Excellent interpersonal skills, effective in providing support, and adept at collaborating and coordinating across diverse teams. - Fully committed to WaterAid's vision, mission, and values, demonstrating enthusiasm and effectively communicating these to others.

Salary & Benefits

Monthly gross salary BDT 127,164/-. In addition, festival bonus, provident fund, gratuity, life insurance for self, health insurance for self, spouse and children, cell phone allowances etc. are applicable as per policy provision.

Travel

Willingness to travel on a regular basis to remote areas of Bangladesh is required.
